No, you do not need to bring a partner. There will be lots of opportunities to dance with other students in the class and partners are regularly rotated.
Yes, you can dance only with your partner. Please let your instructor know that you wish to stay with your partner during classes.
*While the social aspect of partner dancing is fundamental, rotating partners is not there solely for social reasons it is critical to the learning process. Although everyone has a different style, the "lead" signals that you will learn are generally standardised. Therefore, if your lead signals are clear (as a leader), or if you're able to interpret these signals accurately (as a follower), then you should be able to dance with anyone. Dancing with different partners will give you feedback on whether your leading/following technique is correct. For those reasons, during classes, it is advisable to rotate partners as that is part of the learning process. Having said that, it is absolutely your choice if you wish to dance only with your partner. :)
Our classes on Tuesdays are for 18+ (unless otherwise stated). Under-age minors may not be present at the classes and/or social dances.
No special clothes are needed. Advanced students usually wear dance shoes as they are regular dancers but if you are starting in the beginners class simply wear comfortable normal shoes.
Shoes: Please avoid flip-flops, slippers, shoes with strong grip (e.g. sneakers with a rubber sole), or pin heels. To start, we recommend flat shoes or low heels that have an ankle strap and are secure around your ankles. Please only wear high heels if you are confident in them.
We recommend you to bring a towel, deodorant, spare t-shirt/top, hand sanitiser and, something like mints to keep your breath fresh. These are always appreciated when social/couple dancing. Please wash your hands frequently. Please drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. (Please refrain from bringing your own drinks to the venue. The venue has a fully licensed bar.)
If you feel unwell, please do not attend our events.
Any drinks, food, or water from outside are not allowed in the Boston Music Room.
All our Tuesday classes are drop-in classes, so you can join us at any time and also stop attending.
We do not currently run regular courses. If we do organise courses or workshops, we will announce them on social media.
Our focus is teaching Salsa (on2 cross body lead) social dancing style.
Of course. We love special events and can cater a workshop specifically for your event.
