Practise leading and following in the level that suits you, with help available if you are unsure.
9:00pm
The social is optional, but it is a relaxed chance to listen, watch and try what you learned.
Many people arrive on their own. Partners normally rotate during class, so you will meet other learners and do not need to find or bring a fixed partner. If you prefer not to rotate, just let the teacher know.
Both are valid ways to time salsa. The most important thing is finding a class and community where you enjoy learning. Funky Mambo teaches New York-style Salsa On2, and complete beginners can start directly with On2 — you do not need to learn On1 first.
Keep it comfortable
Your first class does not require specialist dancewear or dance shoes.
